\It was in a pile of trash about 10ft x 10ft and 5ft high. The cameras caught my eye and once I found those, I really dug into the pile. This little box was the last thing and I almost missed it. This is CLEARLY not something the person who collected it wanted it to throw out. I reckon someone stole that thinking it was useable money and found out it wasn’t and then has discarded it. Maybe post on some groups around your area in case someone is missing it? It's hard for me to believe that this was somebody's trash. Meaning I wonder if it was accidentally tossed out or the person who threw it out did not know what was in it. This is an amazing find. My initial thought is that someone may be sorely missing this and just heartsick that it's gone. This collection was made with devotion over many years. Yeah. Typical trap house. Almost like a drive thru. The dope came finely sifted in little corner baggies, tied with a piece of bread tie. I never saw anything. This road is used a lot as a dump and this pile looked like someone emptied out an old office. There were no identifying papers(because they would get busted for illegal dumping). Just a lot of junk. I’m this like there were also several really cool vintage cameras. Use those to do your own research instead of turning the originals over and over in your hands, and to send to specialists who may be able to help you. Agreed. The interesting thing is that someone took great care to remove all papers that would identify the owner of the pile. All the files were empty. All the samples had their labels removed. The bill all the way on the bottom, is a 100 Crown note from Occupied Czechoslovakia (Protectorate of Bohemia-Moravia under Nazi Germany). It depicts a view of the Charles Bridge and statue of Bruncvik with the Prague Castle panorama in the background. Ironically, these are nationalist motifs that were reused in Czechoslovak bills in 1953-1992. In great condition it could go for 450 USD. Nowadays, we live in a house where we have four 240L wheelie bins: one for natural waste (food, compost, leaves, etc.), one for plastics/cans, one for paper/cardboard and one for anything else (that's non-recyclable). I much prefer it that way. There's certainly a use for them in densely populated areas (e.g. apartment blocks/flats). Ours would get jammed all the time. Occasionally the software that opens the hatch when you present your card would get in a deadlock and just stop working completely. It's also impossible to separate your trash, since everything is supposed to go into the same container. How has recycling changed in Holland? I remember as a kid having to take plastic and glass bottles to supermarkets and getting paid for it. The only thing that gives it away it's 2020 is the vertical filming. That and the constant squirm to try and capture everything through that narrow vertical slit. I was going to say any safety entity would have a hayday pulling something up and leaving they sized hole in the ground that someone could fall into. Then I saw they had doors designed that kept the void from obtaining bodies. We have a similar system here, but the trash container is raised up with pressurized air, and underneath it's a regular old plastic trash container. It's illegal to dump trash like that, if you get caught you will be fined. Possibly the owner of the trash or a nearby resident will dump it in the container now that it's been emptied, otherwise someone from the city council will do it at some point. Binmen get a pretty decent salary, so if you need fewer of them it's easy to save costs even though the equipment is a bit more expensive. You're mistaken, this is how it should be done in 2020. The idea of having guys ride around on the backs of trucks and dumping bins into them themselves is pretty outdated and unnecessary. People tend to forget or maybe just don’t realise how modern the Netherlands is, and it’s such a small country. IIRC the Netherlands has like the largest agriculture (farming) sector in the world? Wow, being dutch this has never really been special to me, but its funny how other people seeing an advanced thing in my own country allows me to actually appreciate it, instead of just taking it for granted We have one of these recycling points just down the road in front of the "winkelcentrum" all in the format of these ground containers. I was walking in New York City in december. There was trash everywhere on the streets and trash was being picked up every single day and still it was dirty. If they would use this system it would not only make the amount of workload much lower, the city would finally be clean of garbage bags on the street. Workers wouldn't need to throw all those baggs manually. Also the whole problem of not parking on the side of the street on thrash day would be gone since the crane could just pick up the trash from above the cars. Also having a set point for garbage drop would mean less stops for garbage cars. New York City really needs this. Every major city needs this in my opinion. Basically you have a huge hole in the ground and have one single point to throw in your trashbags and they pile up underneith. Now instead of picking up the trash every day and having workers throw in all those thrash bags in the truck they only pick up trash once a week with the ease of the machine. The first time I saw it live my mouth dropped open. I never thought about how the trash can would be larger than the part that is visible (insert bigger on the inside joke). Of course it makes sense, but it blew my mind. These trash cans are awesome in multiple ways. Not only are they big and easy to empty, they also sometimes have locks which you can open with a special card. Everyone in the neighbourhood has a card for some trash can near them and they can only open that one. This way the trash is evenly spaced between the different trash cans. I'm not sure why all the comments are acting like this is is a non-American thing. The only difference between this and the garbage trucks where I live is that this uses a magnet and ours use a claw. Honestly ours are much faster. Comparing Belgium and the Netherlands is kinda not valid. Just looking at the infrastructure when driving into Belgium should say enough. Beer and wine bottles (of which there are plentiful because the country has amazing beer) we carry to designated recycling areas. There's always one within 100 meters of your house or so, and we just use a wagon to drag them there. If you fancy to get some money back, there are recycling machines in grocery stores where you can deposit your bottles. Gee it would be lovely to live in a country with the powerlines burried beneath the road. Especially when mine constantly catches fire from fallen above ground ones. Household rubbish aren't thrown in them. They are to be collected in special bags (can be bought in grocery stores), depending on the type of rubbish. Plants/leaves/organic trash in a green bag, paper and cardboard in another colored bag and the rest in a different color. These bags would be deposited in front of your house, just in the sidewalk. So yeah, garbage day makes the neighborhood look terrible. But the garbage collectors are fast and there's someone who will sweep the area as well. I lived in Belgium, not NL. In our case, only big platz/place have cans like these to accommodate more trash from shoppers/tourists. Most platz would have a once a week market and would attract people to enjoy a day out drinking wine outside, buying food or produce, etc. These cans would hold all that garbage and the next day a truck will be by to empty them. I guess the point is to have the capacity of several cans in one can so the area's beauty won't get ruined with a million trash cans. It's also easier to contain vermin in one spot. Because that was really slow, and there's still a bunch of bags alongside that some guys are going to have to toss in the truck manually anyway. I'm not Dutch, but it's probably illegal to dispose of trash like that, and a special unit might go pick them up in order to look for anything that could identify the "owner", so they can fine that person. At least that's a thing where I live. You can also order a special pickup for large waste or recycling in special cases but, depending on what it is, you may need to pay for it. Certain things like fridges or whatever that are still functional get taken away, cleaned and sold again in a government supported thrift store. They changed the sizes to be smaller so you can't fit in a person anymore. I think at most you could fit 3-4 babies but it's debatable whether that's a good decision or not. I remember when I first started travelling out of North America again (I had lived in Europe as a child) and I realized that the whole futuristic city I was promised as a kid really existed! The funny thing is back in the 80s and 90s everything looked so futuristic in the USA. It was like way ahead of Europe but it suddenly changed in 2000, now Europe has all the futuristic stuff. I've seen this in front of single family houses here in Arizona (and Illinois when I lived there) for my entire life (40+ years). I didn't think it was anything special. My neighborhood only services the black and blue bins though, not compost bins. There are tons in Northern Ontario too. They look different but it is the same effect. Truck drives up, arm comes out picks up garbage that is buried. Ours might need to the operator to hook it up manually though. I haven't seen them pick it up only start to out it back. Can't speak for other areas, but in San Antonio they a couple decades ago started issue standard large bins to every house and the trucks have an arm that picks it up and dumps it in. Something like what's in the video may work in the inner city here, but I doubt it would ever get approved. If I'm correct all houses in the Netherlands have these too. We call them kliko's. Sometimes they get collected with a truck with an arm and sometimes with a truck by hand. I think the underground trash cans like in the video are extra. At least I always assumed them to be.
